"WASHINGTON - The government is reviewing an Australian program that will allow Internet service providers to alert customers if their computers are taken over by hackers and could limit online access if people don't fix the problem."
US studying Australian Internet security program - Yahoo! News

On the surface this might sound to some people like a good idea... and certainly the idea of ISP's alerting you when there is a bot on your machine is good. But involving FEDGOV?

FEDGOV and social programs is like the old saying from some chip company... 'Bet ya can't eat just one!'

The Outlaws - Ghost Riders in the Sky

Where the hell did they come up with this picture for this video? It's pretty irrelevant to the lyrics. I looks like it came from a fan-made video for a version of this song by some band named spiderbite or snakebait or something like that. Which is a pretty lame version of this song anyway.
There only two references to fire in the song: one in the description of the red eyed cows, "Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel" and the other is that the ghost riders horses snort fire. So, no motorcycles, no horses on fire, just the brands on some cows still burning and horses snorting fire. The story is that if the old cowpoke does not mend his ways, he will be consigned to spending eternity chasing those red-eyed cows across the skies, apparently as penance. Yippie!

Outlaws - Ghost Riders Lyrics

Here is the Spiderbait version: Ghost Rider - Ghost Riders In The Sky ( Spiderbait - Cage )
I didn't see any red eyed cows in that video, they could have put dancing Pokemon for all the sense it made. And what's with the guy crawling toward grave? The events in the song take place during "one dark and windy day", not at night. The video seemed to be implying that at daybreak, the ghost rider, who by the way, was not in the sky, although there were some scenes of traveling up and down some structures. And where, during all this, is the "old cowpoke" who is supposed to be receiving this stern warning from the ghost riders? The outlaws version of this song sends chills down my spine, the Spiderbait version is a lame joke, and this fan-made video is the punchline.

Here's a video that's more in sync with the lyrics... unfortunately they don't sing them, and the video is a little cartoonish. But you get the idea!

Air Show, Pease AFB

Saturday (8/28/2010) we went to the Air Show at Pease AFB. It was a beautiful day for an air show, and the pilots and jumpers were great. But, wow what a crowd of people! I'm not a big fan of big crowds. It turned the day into a day of going from one long line to another. Plus no coolers, outrageous prices at the concessions, and crappy food. I waited two hours in line to get the worst chicken sandwich I've ever had, and paid seven bucks for it. Three fifty for a bottle of water. Then it took over two and a half hours to get out of the parking lot. Only the porta-potties did not have lines all day, thank goodness for that!
On top of all that, they had huge tents and a row of porta potties set up between the area we were in and the runway. You could only go up the the fence at the runway if you paid extra. I guess the promoters don't care about their customer's experience, unless you pay some ridiculous prices for the 'vip' area. Sorry if that sounds like a lot of complaining, overall I am glad I went, but, I am sad to say, it will be a long time before I go back there again.

Grayed Out Menu Options

You know I really don't mind menu options being grayed when you can't use them. But...

What I really hate is not knowing why!

Oh, it just pisses me off no end to discover some simple reason I can't use a particular tool, or other menu item...

after two hours of freakin pullin my hair out

trying to

do something I've only done about a hundred times!

All the amazing new features software can have days, would it take a genius to figure out how to include a little pop-up? So that when you tried to, say, transform an image, it would tell you "Sorry, that operation cannot be perform on a gray-scale image"... or whatever the case may be. Am I asking for too much? Perhaps the pop-up could link to the appropriate help page... eh, now I am REALLY asking for a lot, aren't I?
